Practicing Tips - This is also a great way to work with Smart Music. Patience is Key!
- An instrument is learned through repetition
- Use practice time most efficiently by:
- Practicing sections you don't know how to play yet
- Practicing sections you are least familiar with
- If you are having trouble with a section:
- Isolate your problem area
- Take the time to figure out the rhythm first. Count it to yourself repeatedly until you are comfortable with the rhythm.
- Take the time to figure out the fingerings. Play each note one at a time paying close attention to how your fingers are moving.
- Play the section slowly using the correct fingerings and rhythm. Repeat! Gradually increase tempo (speed).
- Always make sure you check the key signature and time signature carefully against the section you are working on before you start.
- Review previously learned material periodically but not constantly
